I’m Lauryn. I rock the Wacom tablet, some non-linear editing systems, and also the drums in a jazz trio with a style that encompasses more than your standard favorites. What do I do besides being a rockstar? First and foremost I am an artist. I see the world around me in a design lens, a filmmaker’s vision, and hear it through a musician’s ear. Inspiration is something that sneaks up on me when I least expect it.

These past few years have been a whirlwind ride of opportunities and I’ve learned I can’t always do it all, but I’ve tried. I produced illustrations for letterpress greeting cards, calendars and coasters at Ladybug Press, then moved on to work as a graphic designer and illustrator at Carew Co. Currently I am in the advertising world at Drake Cooper where I hone my skills as a production artist animating banner ads and helping to make campaigns a success with both print and digital design. You can also find me doing freelance design and illustration for Mad Swede Brewing and other various clients on the side.

Number two love of my life (besides cheese) would have to be filmmaking. And my cat Loki, who I sometimes speculate was an artist in his past life. He’s always snuggling on top of my creative workstations and attempting to grab the pencil or the mouse if he’s in the mood.

In the fall of 2010, I attended the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, where I pursued my love of illustration and kilts, and also indulged in haggis. (if you don’t know what haggis is, I dare you to look it up) This was my first real encounter with illustration and design, and the legendary Loch Ness Monster of course. The whole experience redefined art for me; it allowed me to immerse myself in a uniquely expressive, artistic city while discovering a newfound passion and a career path.
