This is a poster design & illustration I created with Wear Boise for McCall, Idaho’s 2018 Winter Carnival. This project has been one of my favorite pieces to work on because it involves my love of the festival and mythological creatures.
Before starting my illustration, I researched the history of Sharlie, who is a female sea serpent or “Twilight Dragon” believed to reside in McCall’s Payette Lake. After finding out the 2018 theme of “There’s Snow Place Like Home”, I immediately imagined her enjoying the festival from the lake, peeking out from her warm and cozy underwater home.
